2023-24 DC Annual blaster box break

 A little non-sports fun for today's post.

Upper Deck DC Annual - 2023-24 version - hit our store shelves last week and I managed to snag the last, or only, two blasters. Upper Deck is clearly still struggling to get caught up, if they are trying to...


Six packs of five cards per blaster. 100 card base set and a reasonable amount of inserts and parallels. 


Base cards front and back. No duplicates from two blasters so that random luck was nice. 







Some of the insets I pulled. None of these are numbered. The sparkled versions you could pull are numbered out of 99. The Joker is the unnumbered Gold version of the Backscatters sticker insert. 

Parallels.


This sparkle parallel is not numbered, but I only pulled one out of two boxes so they must be a bit tougher. 



 My favorite parallel is the Variant Cover. It is on "vintage stock" and also seems a tick thicker. I got seven out of the two blasters. 



The one per pack retail parallel, Blue, is quite nice. The scan does not do it justice, as the entire center section is foily in a good way. 

There are some very short printed parallels, Hologram SN24, Crystal Clear PR10, and Purple Diamond being the 1/1 possible.

All in all, it is a decent fun product and not overly expensive.

    The Joker sticker insert is my favorite. Reminds me of stickers from my childhood (the ones you could get out of the machines towards the front of grocery stores).

One of my favorite approaches for growing the card collection is through bulk buys. Not from one of the usual places mind you, but through TCDB. What?!  Occasionally members will take to posting on the forum that for whatever reason they have become motivated sellers. This is good for me as I have an extensive wantlist set up in the system. With a few clicks away we go and I await the lot price.  I reckon that in the past three years I have made over 100 purchases there. From a handful of cards to a 5300 card buy. Sunday chores Chronicled

A quick Sunday post with nothing of real substance because its been a day of house repairs around here -plumbing and caulking.  How do two sinks in different rooms develop issues at the same time? Demons...  My, er, reward was a clearance pack of 2021 Panini Chronicles Football. Timely I reckon for week 18.  The pack wrapper had a huge ugly clearance sticker on it, so no picture.   Here are the base cards, The base cards are quite decent. Nice layout and good card stock. An overdue update

 Spring has finally sprung in our neck of the woods, though there is still snow/ice on the ground deep in the forest. The to-do list around here is endless but rather satisfying. Nothing better than putting winter gear away.  The volatile economy has kept my card purchases on the lean side to be sure and even if I wanted to drop some coin to rip some packs new retail product around here is non-existent. The same tired Hoops and Score football still takes up most of the shelf space.  Nonetheless, a few good things were added to the collection in the last couple of weeks. Knocking out sets on the cheap is still satisfying.  The 1992 Dart FernGully set is complete. Quite a cast of voices in this film.  Info here I needed to add something to the Sportlots order, and the Moreland was the only card I could find.
