Next stop - Vintage cards from Spain & Belgium

While researching some 1920's Spanish soccer sets I ended up on todocoleccion and wow! There are so many obscure sets not catalogued in North America. If you have some time, take a look to see what's out there.

Similar to my foray in France I didn't find samples of the sets I was seeking out at a price point I was willing to pay. I didn't want to come home empty handed though.

A lot more research is needed on this set(s).

Now for something different,

A nice XII cromo set, that I reckon tells the story to match the images though I haven't tried to translate it yet. These are 2 5/8" x 3 3/4" - Fractions in Roman numerals are confusing so we'll leave it like this.

The seller didn't have a year listed but similar sets were issued late 20's into early 30's. More research.

Rather amazing that Chocolate Amatller was founded in 1797 Barcelona, by Gabriel Amatller and is still in operation today. That's a success story.

These next two lots are actually from a Canadian eBay seller. First up, 1974 Bimbo The Pink Panther and the Tigreton Show Stickers from Spain.

Bimbo is a baked goods manufacturer and looking at the back of the sticker it appears to be like Ho Hos/Twinkie type snacks.

The final lot is from a Belgian baked goods company, 1938 De Beukelaer The 3 Little Pigs, 100 card set.

That's it for the European tour. Though I have no aspiration to attempt collecting these sets, they sure are fun to own, research, and look at in the Euro-binder.

Thanks for reading.

  1. That's cool that there's a website with more information on card from other countries. I'm always fascinated to see cards I've never seen or heard of before. Great stuff.
