Time to get back at it.

You may thought I had given up on this little blog. Nope. Life just got in the way this summer and early fall.

It started with a nice week long road trip along the shore of Lake Huron. The weather was perfect - full sun everyday without humidity - and things to see and do everywhere. A week is never enough. 

This Sea Stack formation on Flower Pot Island is about 50 feet tall. Stunning.


Somebody thought these stairs were a good idea. Deadly!  The Sweepstakes, lays in fairly shallow water of Lake Huron. The schooner sank in 1885. 

It was during this vacation that we made the decision that we were going to move to a larger house, and take in the in-laws. Are you crazy?!?! you may ask. Heck no, I have always gotten along very well with them and right now they are still in decent health. 

The real estate market here is a little peculiar with it being a military town. All the buying and selling occurs during posting season, in or out. That annual migration happens from April to early September so we missed out. This fall there has been virtually no inventory to look at so now we wait till spring.

So it is time to get back to cards! Just before we went on vacation I did buy a ~15000 card collection, and last month I picked up another ~4000 card lot. I was hoping to process these in my new card room - a fella can dream. I can't wait that long so I will be digging in soon. 

A few bits and pieces have come in to finish off some sets, or just because I wanted the cards. 



1997 Pinnacle X-Press and Donruss Elite sets are done. 


Same can be said for 1994 Fleer Marvel Masterpieces Hildebrandt Brothers.

Saved the best recent purchase for last. Disclaimer-I have no affiliation with the London Cigarette Card Company, but I will strongly suggest to any vintage non-sport collector that they should order this fantastic book.

Friends, it's good to be back it! 
A collector since my early years. Sometimes a collector without focus. If it piques my interest I may collect it.

 A quick blaster break today. I don't remember seeing this in the store earlier in the year so I grabbed the lone box today.  Twelve base cards and twelve insets and parallels in my box. A bronze (/199) , holo (Optic-like), and two greens.  Three holo ice parallels. Base insert and green parallel. Finally a name I recognize.  Blue ice (/299) and a base insert. Green holo autograph, unnumbered.  A fun little break.  ______________________________________________________ When the sale of my hockey card collection was completed I swore that was it, no more! Well, I saw a Facebook Marketplace listing that looked like a good deal so I went and picked it up today. I did a quick comp on these when I got home and it turns out I paid 10% of market asking price. I can live with that margin...even if I don't know what I am going to do with these.  As always, thanks for reading.

Buying lots on TCDB - Part 1

One of my favorite approaches for growing the card collection is through bulk buys. Not from one of the usual places mind you, but through TCDB. What?!  Occasionally members will take to posting on the forum that for whatever reason they have become motivated sellers. This is good for me as I have an extensive wantlist set up in the system. With a few clicks away we go and I await the lot price.  I reckon that in the past three years I have made over 100 purchases there. From a handful of cards to a 5300 card buy. All from trusted and reputable members so it really takes the worry of being swindled out of it.  Here is the first one of these deals of 2025, from member  80s90sHoopHead  ,120 cards all from my wantlist. All killer, no filler! I've broken this into two posts as there is so much good stuff to show. Sunday chores Chronicled

A quick Sunday post with nothing of real substance because its been a day of house repairs around here -plumbing and caulking.  How do two sinks in different rooms develop issues at the same time? Demons...  My, er, reward was a clearance pack of 2021 Panini Chronicles Football. Timely I reckon for week 18.  The pack wrapper had a huge ugly clearance sticker on it, so no picture.   Here are the base cards, The base cards are quite decent. Nice layout and good card stock.
