Trades and Loot

The mail, especially letter mail, is slow. Here, there, and everywhere. I will refrain from ranting about it - no one listens anyway. So when letters do show up in the mail box one must revel in the trades or small orders.  

First up we have a small TCDB trade with user Franmarine. Four cards for two slow set builds, 



Second up, a trade with user ILLRIMESAYA, 


2014 Topps Valor is such an attractive set. 


Love that 2013 Topps Chrome Die-cut! Some Jays for the binders. Pinnacle Museum parallels just don't photograph well. 


This winter I decided that it was time to work on some of the 90's insert sets that I had ignored for all these years. The cards are usually cheap and they bring back many fond memories of those simpler days of collecting. These are from use it or lose it Loot on Sportlots.

    I'm a big fan of 90's Flair. Always enjoyed the thick card stock and the overall designs of the base set and inserts.

Panini Prospect blaster & some Facebook hockey

 A quick blaster break today. I don't remember seeing this in the store earlier in the year so I grabbed the lone box today.  Twelve base cards and twelve insets and parallels in my box. A bronze (/199) , holo (Optic-like), and two greens.  Three holo ice parallels. Base insert and green parallel. Finally a name I recognize.  Blue ice (/299) and a base insert. Green holo autograph, unnumbered.  A fun little break.  ______________________________________________________ When the sale of my hockey card collection was completed I swore that was it, no more! Well, I saw a Facebook Marketplace listing that looked like a good deal so I went and picked it up today. I did a quick comp on these when I got home and it turns out I paid 10% of market asking price. I can live with that margin...even if I don't know what I am going to do with these.  As always, thanks for reading.

The week's mail

With the chatter about another potential postal disruption I have been shying away from any substantial mail ordering. Just chipping away with smaller stuff on Sportlots and TCDB.  This week the mail lady brought these goodies.  Sportlots order,  These are three of the final four for this set. Stay tuned...  For 20 cents a pop I added these 1966 Donruss Monkees to the order. At that price they can be a little rough.  _____________________________________ Sportlots auction, 1957 Topps Isolation Booth for the type binder. A 1929 Player's Curious Beaks, and a group of 1990 Red Rose Animals and their Young.  This is currently a mystery card, and the seller had no description for it. That's the reason I wanted it. The card measures 1 1/2" x 2" and is blank backed. It is printed on standard card stock of the era. Checking the books and catalogues provided nothing. A Facebook group of mostly UK members bounced around some suggestions but none hit the target. ...

Chronicles of the week

What is new in hobby land here? Not a whole helluva lot. Family birthday events, summer home projects...you know the drill. I did grab a box of series 2 Topps this morning. The one positive is the number of cards per box, 84. That's decent. Other than that, nothing to get too excited about - run of the mill inserts, no numbered cards or SP's. I have watched quite a few Topps reels on Facebook and some cool stuff has been pulled!  On a recent trip into the city for an appointment I took the opportunity to hit a big box down there. Four clearance packs of 2023 Panini Chronicles came home with me.  This was the biggie from those packs, Take my word for it, it is numbered out of ten on the back. My scanner, other than needing to be cleaned, struggles with some types of cards.  The next pack had this,  This is my first Points card ever.
