New & Shiny

Our big box store re-stocks the card aisle on Thursdays, so as, ahem...luck would have it, 2024 Prizm was on the shelf. 

What used to be a product that lovers of shiny enjoyed has become a re-hash of designs and inserts with only prospects and retired players. 

Please excuse the lazy photos. Our scanner struggles with chrome-y cards. Let's have a look shall we... 

Box & pack front.


Pack One, the top three are base, bottom row we have one silver and one retail blue. The top three in all of the pics are base cards.



Pack Two, same breakdown as pack one.


Pack Three, ditto.


Pack Four, now it gets a little interesting. The Evan Carter Prizmatic is a parallel that I will need to identify. It is serial numbered out of 399. Not too bad. 


Pack Five, three base, base Hype, and non-numbered green parallel.


Pack Six, three base, a silver, and retail blue. 



It turned out to be a typical retail Panini box. 

No buyer's remorse, but I am a one and done on this. Thanks for reading.  

A collector since my early years. Sometimes a collector without focus. If it piques my interest I may collect it.

A quick Sunday post with nothing of real substance because its been a day of house repairs around here -plumbing and caulking.  How do two sinks in different rooms develop issues at the same time? Demons...  My, er, reward was a clearance pack of 2021 Panini Chronicles Football. Timely I reckon for week 18.  The pack wrapper had a huge ugly clearance sticker on it, so no picture.   Here are the base cards, The base cards are quite decent. Nice layout and good card stock. And so it begins...

 It was a weekly routine for my brother, parents, and I to visit my grandparents just about every Saturday evening in the winter months. Watch some Toronto Maple Leafs action and get caught up on life and such.  For some reason (out of the ordinary) on the way home we stopped at a variety store. This was one of the items dad bought, for me. I had never seen this before. Dad knew that as a 7 year old hockey fanatic that I would appreciate this surprise. What he didn't know is what he started. The mail is moving again!

  Well, a few hours ago it officially became winter. YAY.  I am not a cold weather enthusiast in the least.  It's 3F/-16C here and I need to hit some downtown boutique shops for a couple of more gifts for Mrs. TnT.  The mail brought some spring into the house yesterday. What is more spring than Butterflies?  Baseball spring training for most readers. I promise to have some baseball content very soon.  In the meantime, 1938 Gallaher Butterflies and Moths set. These three put me at 9 out of the 48 cards in the set.     This card is from the 1911 Imperial Tobacco Co. of Canada Butterflies and Moths set of 50. I've got a ways to go as this is only my second. Some of these unbranded sets can be very challenging to identify as many are cataloged as "Anonymous". I would love to see an image of the album that is mentioned on the back.
