Fast cards

The last time our big box card aisle had any kind of racing cards was back in 2022 with Topps Turbo Attax F1 which was not my thing at all.  So it was quite a surprise to see these packs. 


I grabbed one and then I looked at the price tag on the display. Just about choked on my tongue. Who do they think they are, Panini. With tax nearly a buck a card - the exchange rate is a killer. 

Oh well, let's see what this holds. The cards are really nice. High quality stock, great shots, a Stadium Club vibe to these. Here are some sample base cards, fronts and a back.




Now some inserts and parallels, 


A chrome parallel - there were two in this pack. 



This is a red foil parallel,



The highlight of the pack. Blue foil parallel. It is numbered out of 50. Trust me - the number is on the bottom left corner - my scanner didn't pick it up well.


Piastri had a couple of wins in 2024 and 4th in points. I am very happy with this card. 

Not a bad pack after all!

I also managed to grab the last one of these. They very rarely re-stock any items 'round here. Gotta get them fast. 


Time does not permit a rip today though. I'll show the spoils later this week.

    I don't know a lot about racing, other than it's fun to watch. I'm glad that a pack that expensive yielded some gems. They have some of those packs at my LCS (though I don't know the price), maybe I'll grab a pack next time.

And so it begins...

 It was a weekly routine for my brother, parents, and I to visit my grandparents just about every Saturday evening in the winter months. Watch some Toronto Maple Leafs action and get caught up on life and such.  For some reason (out of the ordinary) on the way home we stopped at a variety store. This was one of the items dad bought, for me. I had never seen this before. Dad knew that as a 7 year old hockey fanatic that I would appreciate this surprise. What he didn't know is what he started. The mail is moving again!

  Well, a few hours ago it officially became winter. YAY.  I am not a cold weather enthusiast in the least.  It's 3F/-16C here and I need to hit some downtown boutique shops for a couple of more gifts for Mrs. TnT.  The mail brought some spring into the house yesterday. What is more spring than Butterflies?  Baseball spring training for most readers. I promise to have some baseball content very soon.  In the meantime, 1938 Gallaher Butterflies and Moths set. These three put me at 9 out of the 48 cards in the set.     This card is from the 1911 Imperial Tobacco Co. of Canada Butterflies and Moths set of 50. I've got a ways to go as this is only my second. Some of these unbranded sets can be very challenging to identify as many are cataloged as "Anonymous". I would love to see an image of the album that is mentioned on the back.
