Early century set help from a TCDBer
The 21st century that is.
In November of 2018 I was ripping some dollar store re-packs because they were cheap entertainment. 80 cards for 3 bucks, or something like that. It was within these re-packs that I got my first 2002 Ultra card.
I wasn't buying packs - or cards in general - back in 2002. I was on a card hiatus since our store closing a few years prior.
Damn, these are nice I thought. Everything about them was top notch. Sharp full bleed photography, a cool looking nameplate, and backs that had all the stuff that a back should have - and readable.
Very slowly I started picking up singles, mostly through TCDB trades. Just before the pandemic-boom hit I found a box of Retail at a decent price. A few more here and there after that.
A recent forum post on TCDB by member, supergajit looking to make some deals caught my eye.
Through a quick purchase these 10 get us closer.
That leaves 29 "base", and 63 SP's to go. According to BCP the 85 SP's at the tail end of the set fall 1:4 in hobby packs and 1:10 in retail packs. And they fall non-existent in trade lists. Thank god there are no rookies of note amongst them.
As much as I enjoy looking through this binder -the cards look way better in hand- this will be a slow crawl to completion.
A PWE envelope should always be as full as reasonably possible without making a USPS worker snap and insist on it being a package. So I figured that two more cards made sense.
The Blue is from 2021 Topps Archive. That set build is 28 short. We're getting there. Thanks for reading, and keep on collecting.
