Rare Tarzan and some other oldies

 You just never know what you stumble on while browsing eBay. I don't even remember what I was searching for but I landed on a Canadian seller that had some interesting vintage non-sports for good deals. 

I paid the checkout price and was pleased as punch with my oldies. The seller, without any prompting, sent me a refund for almost the entire shipping amount. He kept just enough to pay for the stamps.

Let's see what we got,


Some well loved 100 year old Canadian Strollers movie cards. These are a challenge to catalogue as there are several different backs. 



Three 1951 Parkhurst Color Comics V339-3. These also have back variations, three. Vintage non-sports is full of that. A tip of the hat to master set collectors!

The Mary Pickford is a 1933 Allen's Movie Stars from Australia. 
That's it! I was looking for a fix of some vintage from Down Under. 




This beauty is from 1957 Parkhurst Adventures of Radisson V339-1.



Now these are cool. Late 40's Tarzan from French Coop Chocolat. There is a Belgian version of this set. The cards are very thin, almost paper thin. 

I haven't found a complete checklist but I stumbled on an amazing website built by the most devout (fanatical) fan of Edgar Rice Burroughs and Tarzan. HERE  Enjoy that rabbit hole.

One of my favorite approaches for growing the card collection is through bulk buys. Not from one of the usual places mind you, but through TCDB. What?!  Occasionally members will take to posting on the forum that for whatever reason they have become motivated sellers. This is good for me as I have an extensive wantlist set up in the system. With a few clicks away we go and I await the lot price.  I reckon that in the past three years I have made over 100 purchases there. From a handful of cards to a 5300 card buy. All from trusted and reputable members so it really takes the worry of being swindled out of it.  Here is the first one of these deals of 2025, from member  80s90sHoopHead  ,120 cards all from my wantlist. Sunday chores Chronicled

A quick Sunday post with nothing of real substance because its been a day of house repairs around here -plumbing and caulking.  How do two sinks in different rooms develop issues at the same time? Demons...  My, er, reward was a clearance pack of 2021 Panini Chronicles Football. Timely I reckon for week 18.  The pack wrapper had a huge ugly clearance sticker on it, so no picture.   Here are the base cards, The base cards are quite decent. Nice layout and good card stock. An overdue update

 Spring has finally sprung in our neck of the woods, though there is still snow/ice on the ground deep in the forest. The to-do list around here is endless but rather satisfying. Nothing better than putting winter gear away.  The volatile economy has kept my card purchases on the lean side to be sure and even if I wanted to drop some coin to rip some packs new retail product around here is non-existent. The same tired Hoops and Score football still takes up most of the shelf space.  Nonetheless, a few good things were added to the collection in the last couple of weeks. Knocking out sets on the cheap is still satisfying.  The 1992 Dart FernGully set is complete. Quite a cast of voices in this film.  Info here I needed to add something to the Sportlots order, and the Moreland was the only card I could find.
