The week that was & surprise Group Break rewards

An unexpected email landed in my inbox recently. It was from Colbey of cardboardcollections where I had been a semi-regular in his Affordable Group Breaks feature. I guess he was doing some housekeeping and there were a few straggler cards taking up space in his office that we had forgotten about.

I sent him the shipping money, as was part of the buy-in rules, and waited not knowing what was coming my way. When the envelope arrived I still had no inkling what it contained.

A soon as I saw the top card it hit me. It was a cheap buy-in for some Action Packed football, 1995 to be specific. I had two teams in the break, Cowboys and Dolphins.

Decent enough cards but that's as far as I will go with this set. There were quite a few duplicates of these cards, and they will be part of the next Giveaway post. See below.

These two cards were also in the envelope. I think Colbey added them as a bonus as he was apt to do. Shannon Stewart was on the wantlist. Thank you

A little Sportlots order came in this week. Three more sets completed!

1996 SkyBox Star Trek: The Next Generation Season 5. Done!

These two cards are likely to be in one of the many boxes of unsorted cards in the basement, however this set has been lingering as Incomplete on my set reports on TCDB. It was driving me nuts, it had to leave the list.

I will still add to the master set when I find them. Not including the black light backs, I am still 150-ish shy on the other variations. Early 90's variation laden sets don't have any appeal to me, but these are easy to identify. So why not.

The highlight (tongue firmly in cheek) of this order is this beauty.

This set is finally off the list! 1991, what an awesome year for the card industry. There were cards for everything and everybody, Fire Engines, Muscle Cars, Waldo, and All My Children... What a time to be a collector.

Spring cleaning the house must include the card storage room, so I have been told. With so many OPE cards in the basement something has to go.

That's box number two off to the donation center this week. I really should pop in to see how they repack and price these for sale. Hopefully these cards will develop new collectors.

If the expected ice storm doesn't cause power outages there will be a giveaway post tomorrow.

Until then, thanks for reading!
